Human-Made Systems vs The Divine System of the Qur’an

A reminder that only Allah’s law is perfect and complete.

Introduction

Democracy, socialism, monarchy — every system designed by man may appear attractive on the surface, but in reality, they all directly oppose the Qur’an. Why? Because the Qur’an is not just a book of guidance; it is the complete and perfect system revealed by Allah, the Creator of mankind and the universe.

Allah’s Complete System in the Qur’an

Allah has declared in the Qur’an that His guidance is complete and sufficient for mankind. Any attempt to replace or compete with His law is an act of rejection and rebellion against Him.

“This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as your religion.”
(Surah Al-Ma’idah 5:3)

This verse proves that the system of Islam is already perfected. To seek guidance from democracy, socialism, or monarchy is to imply that Allah’s system is incomplete — which is disbelief.

The Prohibition of Following Man-Made Laws

The Qur’an directly forbids believers from seeking laws or systems other than Allah’s revelation.

“And whoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed — then it is those who are the disbelievers.”
(Surah Al-Ma’idah 5:44)

“But no, by your Lord, they will not truly believe until they make you, [O Muhammad], judge concerning that over which they dispute among themselves and then find within themselves no discomfort from what you have judged and submit in full submission.”
(Surah An-Nisa 4:65)

These verses make it absolutely clear: true faith requires judging and ruling only by what Allah has revealed. Substituting man-made constitutions and systems means denying Allah’s judgment.

Hadith Evidence

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ warned that Muslims must avoid foreign systems and cling to the Qur’an and Sunnah alone:

“I have left among you two things, you will never go astray as long as you hold fast to them: the Book of Allah and my Sunnah.”
(Al-Muwatta’ 1594; authenticated in Sahih sources)

He ﷺ also foretold that many nations would invite Muslims to follow their ways, but warned against imitating or adopting them:

“You will surely follow the ways of those before you, hand span by hand span, cubit by cubit, to the extent that if they were to enter into a lizard’s hole, you would enter it as well.” They said: “O Messenger of Allah, [do you mean] the Jews and the Christians?” He said: “Who else?”
(Sahih al-Bukhari 7320; Sahih Muslim 2669)

The Danger of Accepting Human Authority

When we accept democracy, socialism, or monarchy as valid systems, we are giving legislative power to humans instead of Allah. This is a form of shirk, because it assigns Allah’s exclusive right of legislation to other beings.

“They have taken their scholars and monks as lords besides Allah.”
(Surah At-Tawbah 9:31)

Explaining this verse, the Prophet ﷺ clarified that when people obey their leaders in making halal what Allah made haram and haram what Allah made halal — they are effectively worshiping them besides Allah.

The Core Message

  • The Qur’an is the only complete system for mankind.
  • Any system that contradicts it is a direct challenge to Allah’s authority.
  • To believe in man-made systems is to endanger — or even lose — one’s īmān.

Conclusion: Return to Allah’s System

Let us not be deceived by the illusion of human governance. Let us return wholeheartedly to the divine system of Allah, which alone can bring justice, peace, and true success — in this world and the Hereafter.

May Allah guide us all to His complete system — the Qur’an and Sunnah.
